Akin Gump published a client alert on the consumer data privacy bill—Senate Bill 6281—passed by the Washington state Senate on February 14, 2020; state lawmakers continue to debate proposed legislation for the Washington Privacy Act, the state’s first data privacy law. On February 7, 2020, Washington state House lawmakers proposed new language for their version of the bill—House Bill 2742—showing they intend to push for much further reaching relief for consumers than their Senate counterparts.
